Attendance, Tutoring, and Bonus Credit (Edgar Bucks)

This course no longer drops grades at the end of the six-weeks. Instead, students may earn bonus points, called Edgar Bucks, based on attendance, punctuality, and participation in tutoring when needed.

How Students Earn Edgar Bucks

Students earn 20 Edgar Bucks for each instructional day they attend and are on time

      (Certain school-wide days are excluded)

Absent → 0 Edgar Bucks earned for that day

Tardy → 10 Edgar Bucks earned for that day

A typical six-weeks allows students to earn up to 240 Edgar Bucks

Earning Back Lost Edgar Bucks Through Tutoring

If a student misses school or arrives late, they may earn back lost Edgar Bucks by attending tutoring.

Students earn 1 Edgar Buck for every 5 minutes of tutoring

Students may only earn back the amount they lost due to absences or tardies

This encourages students to seek academic support while keeping the system fair.

How Edgar Bucks Affect Grades

At the end of the six-weeks, students may apply their earned Edgar Bucks as extra credit:

Minor grades: 1 point added per Edgar Buck

Major grades: 1 point added for every 2 Edgar Bucks

Students choose how their earned points are applied.

Why This Change Was Made

      Encourages consistent attendance and punctuality

      Promotes tutoring as academic support

Replaces automatic grade removal with earned rewards

      Keeps grading transparent and fair

No grades are removed, and no penalties are added. This policy simply provides students with an opportunity to earn additional credit through responsible habits and academic effort.
